A total of 467 volunteer-shavees, of which 131 were female shavees, have bravely shed their locks in the last 4 years to send the message of hope and love to the cancer-striken children from the Children Cancer's Foundation (CCF).
With the act of each volunteer stepping forward to shave their head, it represents the understanding by an individual of the ordeals which a child with cancer is subjected to.
This project is what CCF have chosen to do in solidarity of children with cancer and in celebration of their courage.

Been thinking of shaving my head for this cause since my friend went for it 2 years back. Was almost tempted to join her then but was kinda too vain to really carry it out. In addition, I had just started in my job and wasn't very keen on doing anything to rock the boat. Getting my head shaved would definitely attract a lot of unnecessary and unwanted attention on myself.
But now, having had 2 grandmothers pass away from breast cancer (maternal) and nose and throat cancer (paternal) and an aunt (maternal) recovering from nose cancer, I can understand the fear and worries not just of dying from the disease, but on top of that, losing one's hair. If it's not bad enough looking and feeling lousy from all the medication, restrictive diet, etc. When I was watching "The Bucket List" with my friend, the scenes of Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman suffering the after-effects of chemo kinda affected me...
2 years ago, I was very affected when someone close to my heart got diagnosed with cancer. She was a tough nut and suffered through it all without a single complaint. Her cancer is now in remission and I pray that she will have a good long life. She certainly deserves it, and much more.
Anyway, coming back to Hair for Hope 2008. Many push and pull factors telling me to go for it... But one big factor also stopping me... My ego and pride...
So, before I make my decision, help me out by voting on my blog if I should or should not SHAVE MY HEAD in this year's Hair for Hope event. I'd also really appreciate it if you could add in some comments on why I should/should not do so in my tag box.
Thanks!
