4/4 Day

To commemorate my class 4/4 '95... What happened today?

  • Netscape Communications founded as Mosaic Communications in 1994.

    • Hey! I was there!

  • Martin Luther King, Jr. is assassinated by James Earl Ray at a motel in Memphis, Tennessee in 1968.

    • I really enjoyed his "I have a dream" speech. In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline.

  • Professor C.G. King of the University of Pittsburgh isolated vitamin C after five years of research in 1932.

    • Take some vitamin C today and feel better fast! Suck a lemon!

  • Susanna M. Salter became the first woman mayor in the U.S in 1887. She received $1 for her year as mayor.

    • Guess that $1 was worth a lot of money way back then...

  • City of Los Angeles incorporated in 1850.

    • How can a city be incorporated?

  • April 4 is the 94th day of the year (95th in leap years) in the Gregorian calendar. There are 271 days remaining until the end of the year.

    • What?! So many more days to Christmas still?
